African American former soldier Shom is in love for the first time in his life with Michael, his first boyfriend and live-in partner. Now a year into the relationship, he is forced to face the conflict between his Christian faith and his sexuality. Shom's internal conflict is exacerbated by the feigned acceptance of his hyper-religious mother, which displays itself in increasingly overt ways. In the fight for his mother's approval and his boyfriend's love, Shom faces a crisis of faith and seeks a desperate solution.
