PAFF 2023 Best Short Documentary - Nominee

Across North America, in a practice known as "streaming,” high school students are tagged based on their perceived ability. Research shows that due to subconscious biases, many capable youngsters (disproportionately Black and marginalized) end up in the lower streams, ultimately barring them from many post-secondary options early on and perpetuating a cycle of systemic poverty. By the time a student realizes it, it’s often too late and nearly insurmountable to change.
