May, 15, is discovering her sexuality and establishing herself as separate from her single mother. She's made new friends, and has grown apart from her former best friend Jenny who moved in after troubles at home. But in a moment of vulnerability, May realizes that she does need her mom---only to find her with Jenny in an intimate, mother-daughter like moment.
