82-year-old Willem transformed a remote potato farm back into one of the most important butterfly habitats in the region for over 40 years. But due to an overload of nitrogen in the air, Willem’s flower rich butterfly paradise gets slowly driven away by a monoculture of grass.

    Director Biography - Tim Visser, Sander van Iersel: Tim Visser (1987) is a broadly oriented creative person. By passion for nature, filming and concept developing he has become one of the main wildlife filmmakers in The Netherlands. Tim films for Dutch wildlife television series such as BNNVARA Vroege Vogels and cinema films such as WAD. He also produces his own films such as Insect Guardians, Sand of Time and Europa's Wilde Iconen which have been selected for serveral wildlife and mountain fillmfestivals. Tim's main specialisation is macro filming, but sees his biggest strenght as an cameraman in creating visually beautiful scenes with the right emotional vibe. His dream for the future is to grow Wild Step into an succesfull production company focussed on nature and the people who preserve it. Sander van Iersel Sander (1992) both graduated as a BSc in Biology (VU,Amsterdam) and as a MA in wildlife Documentary Production (alford, Manchaster) uses his creative view on storytelling and editing to better wildlife- and science content. Sander is also co-producer for our project Insect Guardians.
