Dr Velinsky is currently studying the movement and cycling of carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus in estuarine and freshwater environments in the mid-Atlantic region. He uses methods of stable isotope biogeochemistry to understand environmental change over time with modern and historic samples. A focus of his work are aspects of water quality, contaminants and wetland ecosystem services in the Delaware and Barnegat Bays. Courses that he teaches include Oceanography, Environmental Chemistry and Environmental Water Quality.
Velinsky is the author of +65 peer-reviewed publications and has delivered more than 70 presentations at local, national and international scientific meetings. He is a member of the Toxics Advisory Committee and Advisory Committee on Climate Change at the Delaware River Basin Commission and a member of the Science Advisory Board for the State of New Jersey.
Alex Danovitch
Alex Danovitch leads the Zero Waste Local Supply Chain Coalition for All Together Now PA, a nonprofit uniting Pennsylvania’s rural and urban communities to increase community wealth, reduce carbons, and prepare for climate change by building regional economies that are self-reliant in basic needs. He is also a principal at Nothing Left to Waste, a national firm collaborating with nonprofits, municipalities, and institutions to change the model that perpetuates waste.
