January Handl has been writing poetry since she could write; she often feels as though it is writing her. With a 25 plus year career in education, teaching, and parent/family education, she still claims motherhood (and now grandparenthood) as the richest source of her passion for life, love, and the current moment. Living in awe of existence and in love with the natural world, inspiration for her poetry is often found in rooted concrete images that bloom, blossom, and become the compost for what arises in metaphor and spirit that wants to find its way to the page. Her greatest writing accomplishments are when a reader expresses feeling not so alone, and more authentically themselves.

She has had poems published in “The Avocet,” “The Porter Gulch Review” and weekly for 4 years on the blog site: “Bliss Habits” as well as occasional poems on “FacetotheWind” blog spot. She has also written an educational blog for Mulberry School in Los Gatos.

January has published 2 books:

“Leaning Toward Knowing” a book of spiritual poetry

“Trusting the Inner Teacher, The inside stories of Gazebo Park School at Esalen Institute”
