Virtuoso Afro-Cuban brothers – violinist Ilmar and pianist Aldo – live on opposite sides of a geopolitical chasm. Separated by geopolitics, reunited by music, the brothers’ parallel lives play out in New York and Havana until their poignant reunion and their momentous first performances together. LOS HERMANOS/THE BROTHERS features an electrifying, genre-bending score composed by Aldo López-Gavilán, performed with his brother Ilmar and with guest appearances by maestro Joshua Bell and the Grammy-winning Harlem Quartet. This documentary explores the deep bonds of brotherhood and the contagious joy of artists at work.
