Through all of history, we have fought the wild. Russian scientist Sergey Zimov and his son, Nikita, believe we must stop this war. Pleistocene Park’s intent is to populate a stretch of the tundra in far northeast Siberia with large herbivores (horses, reindeer, yaks, musk oxen and bison). Their purpose: to create a grassy biome that will replicate the Pleistocene era and prevent the permafrost from thawing and releasing vast amounts of carbon dioxide. Gritty with authenticity (lots of muck, mosquitos, disasters), this film will interest climate-change activists, farmers with big dreams and anyone who has ever tried to move a very large very wild animal. Is this guy a crazy genius, or just plain crazy?
