Port Townsend Film Festival is delighted to showcase the creative style and accomplishments of Port Townsend’s youngest digital media production enthusiasts! Supported by the above-and-beyond direction of their teacher, veteran filmmaker David Egeler, these talented students will share their creativity and hard work.

See below for a list of films in the showcase.

For those unfamiliar with the Media Lab, instructor David Egeler empowers his students to choose their own projects and rise above their own expectations. Over the last two years, students faced not only the learning curve of advanced editing software but also remote learning to do their work. Creative workarounds were formed by collaboration between the instructor, the students, and occasional generous contributions of time and energy from connections within the PT community.

Instructor Egeler doesn’t stop there. With grant money and many generous donations, the class traveled to Los Angeles in 2022 to take a deep dive into the movie industry. The students explored a studio lot. They wandered the aisles of a renowned prop house. For many, an important shift in perspective happened at a behind-the-scenes look at an intensive industry-focused film school and apprenticeship program.

The Media Lab is planning a second year of industry exploration in California, and is kicking off the fundraising campaign necessary to get the students on the road with this public screening. Don’t miss this opportunity to support PT’s young filmmakers while enjoying their engaging work. If you'd like to financially support their fundraising efforts, check back soon for a link to donate directly to their campaign.
