After five months of wallowing in heartbreak, KeKe—a sharp-tongued, hopelessly romantic Black trans woman—has perfected the art of avoidance, opting to stay home and watch old romcoms every night. That is, until her ride-or-die cousin Lily drags her out for a much-needed night of fun. But instead of cocktails and chaos, KeKe finds herself at a party that feels a little too familiar, reminding her of everything she thought she had before her ex-fiancé flipped the script.

Determined to keep it together (with the help of a strong drink and a joint), KeKe is ready to fake smiles and try to power through—until she meets Eli, a charming, disarmingly sweet stranger who seems to see right through her defenses. Their connection is instant, but KeKe isn’t sure she’s ready to risk her heart again, especially when she’s still picking up the pieces of the life she thought she had figured out.

Between messy encounters, laugh-out-loud moments, and a playlist reminiscent of our favorite black romcoms, Salty is a story about love, loss, and learning to be your own happy ending. Because sometimes, before you find “The One,” you’ve got to fall for yourself first.
