Sam wants the same things a lot of twenty-somethings do: his own place, to get married, and to maybe have kids. But for Sam, adulthood also includes navigating a world that often fails to meet the needs of Disabled people like himself. The Ride Ahead offers a candid look into Sam’s experiences, complete with a point-of-view video camera from his wheelchair and expressive animations. Featuring interviews with prominent disability rights advocates such as the late Judy Heumann, Bob Williams, and Keith Jones, this documentary from Film Pittsburgh alums Dan and Samuel Habib (Disability Roadmap, ReelAbilities 2023) challenges the status quo in an effort to make the world a better, more inclusive place for all.
