The Kids Are Alright is a shorts program about and by LBTTQI2S young people and families - stories that celebrate the joys of connection and acceptance as well as the difficult conversations that take place between loved ones.


The program includes: My Life with Rainbows, Girlsboysmix, Pitoc E Icinakosian, I am Gay, We Have Reached the Moment

A young person tells the story of how their family was created through their two lesbian mothers and their father who helped them out. They also explain how it would help if schools provided more education about queer families so they wouldn’t have to deal with so many questions from their peers.

“Peterborough Pride” exists to support & celebrate people of all sexual orientations and gender identities; honour and give thanks to those who have come before us and contribute to the resilient spirit and courage of the present struggle for our human rights. Peterborough/Nogojiwanong Pride Week has been celebrated since 2003 and has grown into a week of over 30 events events in mid-September each year. The 2SLGBTQA+ community is diverse and spans and intersects the full spectrum of race, age, ability, and economic status. Ultimately, Pride events are intended to provide a space for participants to gather, share ideas, speak their minds, support each other, and have fun in a safe and accepting environment.

Youth Leadership in Sustainability (YLS) is a one semester full time high school program for local grade 11 and 12 students. The YLS classroom is at Trent University but our exploration of sustainability challenges and solutions takes us into the forests, farms and streets of our local community. YLS helps youth find their voice and their place in the struggle for a just and secure future on this planet.
