When charismatic, seemingly happy Air Force recruit CJ Twomey shockingly ended his own life at age 20, his family was plunged into unrelenting grief and guilt. Years later, tormented by the feeling that she had somehow let her son down and driven by a need to sustain the memory of how he lived, not how he died, his mother, Hallie, put out an open call on Facebook. In this moment of desperate inspiration, she asked a handful of world travelers to help fulfill her son's ambition to see all the corners of the Earth by scattering some of his ashes in a place of beauty or special meaning to them. It was a call that would resonate beyond her wildest hopes — one that would move tens of thousands of people to answer.
