In this 9-minute and 55-second experimental film, viewers are taken on a journey of "undoing" as the film's author-protagonist unstitches her way to healing and catharsis, one stitch at a time, after the end of an abusive 20-year marriage. The subject: their wedding garments.


Director Biography - Lyall F. Harris



Lyall Harris is a multi-media artist, writer and educator. Her work has been exhibited in more than one hundred solo and group exhibitions across the US and in Italy and France in venues such as Purdue University, Creative Arts Workshop, National Art League, National Academy Museum, Maryland Federation of Art, Sonoma Museum of Visual Art, City College of San Francisco, Cartavetra, SRISA Gallery, Atelier Vis à Vis, and many others. Lyall has been the recipient of fellowships at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, NALL Foundation in Vence, France, and San Francisco's Grabhorn Institute. Her painting has been further acknowledged with over twenty awards, including The George Hitchcock Prize for painting from the National Academy Museum, and featured in literary magazines, including La Petite Zine, Plain China, Whurk, and Generations. Her book art is held in over fifty Special Collection libraries, such as those at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Yale, UCLA and Stanford. Her poetry and prose have appeared in The New Guard, The Minnesota Review, Prose Online, The Dewdrop, The Perch Magazine, The Vincent Brothers Review and elsewhere and her creative nonfiction has been featured in The Montréal Review. Her book-length poem, Barrier Island, is forthcoming from The Black Spring Press Group (London). She has given papers and/or artist’s talks at colleges and universities, such as UCSC, UCSB, Art Institute of California and other venues, among these, the San Francisco Public Library, The Grabhorn Institute, APHA, and the Virginia Center for the Book. She has taught in the field of book art at a variety of institutions, including as an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia and James Madison University.
