The film SELA was written by three grade 7 and 8 students, Iphelele Baxana, Lulama Duda and Ibanathi Buqa and directed by Eastern Cape filmmaker Rafieka Davis. The film was funded by the Latin School of Chicago as well as Artworks for Youth. The production was carried out over a 5-day period and assisted by a young crew from Chicago.

SELA tells the story of 10-year-old Kamva, who lives in the Joe Slovo township, and is forced to assume adult responsibilities due to his mother's heavy drinking.
