New York, NY; Director Biography - Mona Maahn Mona Maahn is a producer from Hamburg, Germany. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Film at Columbia University in New York City, where she also completed her undergraduate degree in Film Studies. Mona has written and produced several short films since moving to the United States, additionally working for Film Manufacturers inc. in New York as well as Markenfilm GmbH and Constantin Television in Germany. Director Statement I wanted to write and direct something that is very personal. My brothers and I all played soccer at the club where this film takes place, so I really knew the world. This story was inspired by my younger brother Lucas and his best friend Malik, who both star in the film and can be heard rapping in all of the film's music. As a first time director it was important to me to try and tell the story as close to reality as possible, so even though Malik and Lucas had never acted before, we all worked together in order to create a film that felt true.
