SA Indie Film Fest 2020 x Hectic Bru Short Films Official Selection
Human trafficking and domestic violence are a huge global pandemic. This film is based on true stories of real people who really suffer this atrocity. Our film is narrated by Agreement, an older woman, who's youth is triggered by overhearing a neighbour abusing their daughter. Her past life still haunts her. Her story started when she was a young girl with a bright future ahead of her. She wins a scholarship to study in the city, her mother is super proud, and reaches out to a distant relative to help accommodate her daughter. She recalls arriving in the big city, with great excitement and anticipation of her bright future. Sadly, her joy quickly changed to sorrow, as she is physically and mentally abused by her mother's extended family. She is forced to work and serve their needs. Eventually she is so badly beaten that neighbours report the suspected abuse. Agreement escapes but is never the same again.
