Eulalie Charland, violin
David Wright, harpsichord
David Wright is a musician of international acclaim who specialises in early keyboard instruments.
Originally from London's East End, David was entirely self-taught as a child and until his late teens. He then went on to study at the Royal College of Music, where he was the winner of numerous international competitions and prizes, most notably the Broadwood Harpsichord Competition. He pursues an extremely busy career as soloist, chamber musician and continuo player in orchestras and opera companies, recently recording with The Academy of Ancient Music.
With an extensive discography to his credit, recent collaborations have included recordings with Tasmin Little, Julian Lloyd Webber, composer Debbie Wiseman (in the soundtrack to the BBC series Wolf Hall), the English Concert, Academy of Ancient Music and concerts with Dame Emma Kirkby and James Bowman. After recording the monumental Goldberg Variations in 2007 David spent much of his time touring as a soloist until he joined the blockbuster group Red Priest who now occupy most of his time with a busy international concert diary.
When not touring, David enjoys working on his crumbling Georgian house in Cambridgeshire which he shares with 9 harpsichords, 2 clavichords, 2 square pianos and 1 chamber organ.
Violinist Eulalie Charland has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in various important concert venues and festivals in the UK and Europe. Her playing has been described as “elegant...strong and possessing uncomplicated projection” (The Strad, April 2008).
Her musical education took her from Paris to Bucharest via Indiana in the US before she completed her Bachelor and Master of Music at the Royal College of Music in London.
Eulalie is equally at home with the classical and a more contemporary post 20th century musical language; she has commissioned various works for solo violin, duos with piano as well as trios from living composers and is passionate about collaborating and exploring the diverse and individual soundscapes of the artists she works with.
Eulalie is the founder, artistic director and leader of Synchrony, a chamber ensemble which puts women at the centre of its creative drive.
She is a professor at London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she teaches violin in the junior department.
Eulalie plays a violin she commissioned from master luthier Stefan von Baehr in 2015.
