SIMON WOOLF SERIES: THE JAZZ GREATS
For his second series of concerts at Sands Films Music Room, bassist Simon Woolf turns his attention to compositions by the jazz greats, some of whom in the course of his long and varied career he has had the pleasure of accompanying. Simon will be joined for these concerts by both established and rising stars at the very pinnacle of the UK's straight-ahead jazz scene. Each concert will present repertoire by players of a specific instrument.
SAXOPHONISTS
The opening concert on Thursday 25th April will feature music written by saxophonists played by Donovan Haffner – alto sax; Fraser Urquhart – piano; Joe Edwards – drums and Simon Woolf.
PIANISTS
The Pianists will be celebrated on Friday 21st June by Andy Panayi – saxes; Mark Nightingale – trombone; Joe Dessauer – drums and Simon Woolf.
DOUBLE BASSISTS
Friday 13th September Simon together with Olly Wilby – tenor sax; Matyas Geyer – piano; Joe Edwards – drums will be playing tunes by Double-bassists
GUITARISTS
Friday 15th November (as part of EFG London Jazz Festival) Simon woolf in a trio featuring Gareth Lockrane – flutes and Colin Oxley – guitar will perform a programme of music by guitarists.
