"We cry among the skyscrapers
As our ancestors
Cried among the palms in Africa
Because we are alone,
It is night,
And we're afraid."
- Afraid by Langston Hughes
Delve into the mystical realm of communication from beyond in this emotional block of films about messages from our ancestors, the divine, our past selves, and everything above, below, and in between. Each story unravels the threads that connect us to the unseen, including those we’ve lost too soon, exploring how these messages can illuminate our paths and deepen our understanding of life’s mysteries.
An unmotivated misfit in her 30's is shocked when she finds herself back in the 90’s with her 10-year-old self after trying a mysterious meditation practice. She quickly discovers however that her self-sabotaging behavior is deeply rooted in her childhood.
The story follows the experience of ANNE WATERS, a disheveled millennial in desperate need of life coaching. Her best friend and yoga instructor, TAYLOR GILES persuades her to attend a meditation class in hopes of turning Anne’s lackluster life around. This meditation class is particularly special because it guides students through reflecting on their inner child and experiences growing up. Before class, Taylor gives Anne a mysterious healing crystal called labradorite to aid her in the meditation. Anne quickly learns however that this is no ordinary stone. As Anne becomes lost in the breathing practice, the stone begins to glow, and her surroundings warp into her childhood room from the 90’s. When she opens her eyes, she finds her 10-year-old self, LITTLE ANNE sitting in front of her.
Wonder Child is a comedy short about self-discovery through meditation and answers the age-old question, “If you could talk to your younger self, what would you say?” Anne is ultimately faced with the challenge of giving her younger self advice in order to fix her future.
