Wuhan Wuhan: An exploration of the universality of the pandemic experience.

*Film is only available to U.S. audiences

Wuhan, China was the initial epicenter of the COVID-19 Pandemic, but when the city went on a lockdown, it was nearly impossible to get a clear sense of what was happening. Award-winning filmmaker Yung Chang (Up the Yangtze) teams up with a group of intrepid videographers to capture life at the epicenter, including portraits of a couple expecting a baby, quarantined families in a byzantine shelter, medical workers, and a psychologist. In a time when the world needs greater cross-cultural understanding, Wuhan Wuhan is an invaluable depiction of a metropolis joining together to overcome a crisis.

Wuhan Wuhan is a testament to the universality of our collective pandemic experience.

An SDFF exclusive Q+A between director Yung Chang and SDFF co-director and lead programmer Jean McGlothlin is available now. Watch it here!
