Skate Depot's closure in 2014 felt like a funeral. Sk8, a predominantly African American dance roller-skating community in Los Angeles, searched for a rink beyond the city’s boundaries in areas that did not readily welcome them and experienced tragedy at one of these temporary homes. L.A. Roll features the quiet togetherness of Sk8 Mafia and other dance skaters on their quest to find a permanent home rink.
