A Who’s Who of Jewish and Civil Rights leaders are interviewed in this film chronicling the close connections between Jews and African-Americans from the 1909 founding of the NAACP through the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s. Special moments in the film: In Selma, Alabama, young black men wore skull caps as “freedom caps” because of their close ties with the Jewish community; Civil Rights leaders visited Auschwitz with Elie Wiesel and others. Some famous names in the film: John Lewis, Harry Belafonte, Andrew Young, Martin Luther King, Jr., David Saperstein, Peter Yarrow, and Rabbis Abraham Heschel and Si Dresner. This film can inspire us today when hatred and divisiveness have resurfaced worldwide.
