In the projects of Watts, Meryland Gonzalez, a twelve-year-old female boxer, trains to be crowned the 2019 Junior Olympics champion. Meanwhile, her immigrant parents work tirelessly to give their miracle child a shot at achieving her dreams.

Wendy (17) is an aspiring engineer who tinkers using parts from discarded electronics in hopes of making a 3D printed prosthesis for her best friend Shelly (16), an artist with double limb deficiencies. These young Mexican-American women reinvent cultural, gender, and ability norms against a turbulent backdrop of the border recently scarred by racist policies and attacks.

As Los Angeles reels from the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic, Victor Villa, a young Latino entrepreneur and L.A. native, must persevere to keep his street taco business afloat. Against the backdrop of gentrification in his neighborhood, Victor must also maintain his role as a community leader with dreams of transitioning his backyard pop-up to a full-time brick-and-mortar restaurant.
