A Bite of Bone

“Hand” is a 2D abstract animation which is accompanied by the song, “Sekktortjek” composed by Mads Lindgren. The idea of the work is to present the weird beauty of hand creatures composed of gestures, geometric shapes and abstract patterns in order to create a surreal journey for the audience. The creatures undergo different transformations such as phenakistoscopes in synchrony with the music.

A girl with magic eyelashes is exploited for them by her school, her community, and eventually the government. She battles the weight of the world with the weight of being a middle schooler.

The film brings a poem to life that winds between childhood memories, diary notes, and their adult interpretation, reflecting the issues raised by the search for the meaning of existence and the feeling of frequent hopelessness. Jumping between dreams, nightmares, and confused memories, Grandma’s timeless, safe figure links to the stars that show a path in the dark as the shining responses of the universe.
