Awake each morning by the voice of a pigeon, the filmmaker reads his great-grandfather's prison diary. He learns that a pigeon kept the prisoner’s company while he wrote. This solitary, timeless pigeon fills the gaps of what is forgotten, awaking unspoken family wounds. <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/cc840b73a9e25c9d3bc8ed71b94354b7.png"> Director's Bio: Eneos Çarka is a Los Angeles based filmmaker. He graduated from DocNomads Masters on Creative Documentary and is currently a PhD student and Annenberg Fellow in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Southern California. His films have screened at numerous festivals, galleries, and cultural events such as Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin in Musée du Louvre, Message to Man IFF, and Festival dei Popoli among others. They focus on character studies and deal with memory, identity, and family relations, paying particular attention to issues of representations and experimenting with various approaches to cinema.

A PIGEON'S SONG

Yugoslavia, 1991. Far away from the war zones Branka gets a job at a maternity ward of a state hospital. The young woman is all alone, but it turns out loneliness is not the hardest burden Branka has to carry. Newborns are disappearing from the hospital. <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/6173d48cb4823eb723fc6df5b64c59c9.png"> Director's Bio: Ákos K. Kovács was born in 1991 in Senta, Yugoslavia. After he finished high school in Subotica he moved to Budapest, Hungary, to study cinematography in the Metropolitan University. His BA diploma work, Away (directed by Roland Ferge) debuted at the Berlinale Generation in 2014 where it won Special Mention of the Generation Kplus International Jury. His other collaborations as DOP include Szabolcs Hajdu’s It’s Not the Time of My Life. Since then Ákos started to work on his own films as writer-director. Branka is his first short film.&nbsp;

Years after release from solitary confinement, a man still runs from his past as part of a 400-mile, self-sufficient, arctic marathon. Hungry, exhausted and cold, he is ready to abandon the race when hallucinations in the ice take him back to a moment in his cell when he contemplated suicide. Past and present fight to reconcile a poetic inner struggle that is the essence of the human condition. <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/da279566193b9892e53f62ed6d1887bb.png"> Director's Bio: Tudor Munteanu is an award-winning actor and filmmaker. In 2008, he immigrated to the U.S. from Romania to pursue acting and has appeared in a variety of productions (The Nun, The Disaster Artist, Hawaii Five-O, Criminal Minds) His debut short film, Other Side (writer, co-director) earned the 2016 IFS Film Festival award for Best Independent Short. He has produced festival-awarded live action and documentary shorts. He is currently in post-production on his first feature as a producer and in development on another feature based on a Nicholl Fellowship-winning script. He is a member of SAG AFTRA and has served on the Screen Actors Guild Awards Nominating Committee.

SOLITARY

Just as he's getting ready to celebrate the new year amid a global pandemic, a thirteen-year old's careless winter break is interrupted when an earthquake hits nearby. He's currently studying Film and TV directing at the Academy of dramatic arts in Zagreb.
