
Late at night in a small Turkish town, a young couple tries to find a hotel room to spend the night together. They are rejected at all hotels for not having a marriage certificate. When they believe they’ve found a trick as a way in, the situation gets out of hand.
Director's Bio: Serhat Karaaslan, from Kurdistan (Turkey), has directed one feature film and several shorts. His short films were screened and awarded at major festivals like Toronto and Locarno International Film Festival. His debut film Passed by Censor (Cannes Cinéfondation Residence), premiered at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2019 where it received the Critics Award, and was shown at festivals around the world garnering additional awards. The Criminals is his latest work.
