Since the advent of home movie footage, memory has entered into symbiosis with media, but as decades pass, regimes change and file formats fall away. So too, does media disintegrate, and the memories depart alongside it. This film represents a conscious effort to revisit the memories of Georgians from the period that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union, through the time capsules of their newly digitized home video cassettes.


Anna R. Japaridze is a British-Georgian filmmaker based in Tbilisi, Georgia. She began developing experimental documentary video installations over the course of her Fine Art BA at Goldsmiths, University of London and has participated in a range of international solo and group exhibitions. In 2021, she graduated with an MFA in Documentary Film and Video at Stanford University, which she undertook with the support of a BAFTA LA scholarship. In 2022, she completed a fellowship in multimedia storytelling at Chai Khana, a Caucasus-based media platform, and was awarded a Sundance Ignite fellowship in recognition of the short films that she directed in Georgia.
