
Gukla is a horror story about three women who come together in an abandoned mansion. When Fatma Teyze moves into the rundown mansion after her house is demolished due to urban renewal, she meets Dunya, an Afghan refugee who has just given birth. The two realize that there are beings other than themselves in the house.
Emine Uysal Berger was born in 1982 in Izmir. In 2001, she entered Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Cinema-TV, where she studied directing and graduated in 2005. She worked as an assistant director in the documentaries STEP BY STEP Istanbul for TRT and KÜNDEKARI, MAN'S DANCE WITH WOOD, for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. She wrote and directed short film scripts. In 2006, she started working at Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Department of Culture and Arts. In 2007, she worked as an assistant director in the theater play titled ALL THE WORLD WHEN MY HOME IS MADE MY HOME, a European Union Project of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. As a cinema coordinator at Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, in addition to the Yeniden Sinematek film programs that started in 2009 and are still ongoing, she still works as a coordinator in different cinema organizations.
Özgür Ceylan, born in 1975 in Izmir, completed his primary and secondary education in Izmir. He graduated from Ege University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema. Between 1999 and 2011, he worked in the advertising sector, shooting photographs and promotional films. Between 2011-2019, he worked as a Communication Specialist in Selçuk Municipality Selçuk Ephesus City Memory Project. He conducted many oral history interviews and made documentaries within the scope of Selçuk Ephesus City Memory Project. Within the scope of the project, he organized short film workshops with Selçuk youth. Since 1999, he has worked as a director, cinematographer and screenwriter in many short films, promotional films, music videos and documentary projects. He continues to work in İzmir Municipality.
