A father, Eli, finds himself in unfamiliar territory as a single parent after years of having a 'hands off' approach with his own children. Following the death of their mother, the family must come to understand a new family dynamic. Eldest sister, Lily, moves home from college with her much older boyfriend, Ron, in tow. Selfishly, Lily wants Ron to stay for her own emotional well-being, but it is clear that he and Eli do not see eye to eye from the start. Ivy lashes out and is angrier than the rest. She spends her summer smoking weed and contemplating if college is a sham. Overdramatic Violet feels neglected and wants to find her own identity separate from her sisters. While youngest, Holly, has a hard time letting go and growing up, beginning to realize that her childish ways are not going to fly under Eli's roof. In light of their new circumstances, the Reyes sisters learn how to cope with grief and newfound adulthood as well as mend their strained relationships with each other.
