Photographer Erik Mathy rode his bicycle from San Francisco to Tucson in November of 2019 to explore first-hand perspectives of the immigration issue in America. Carrying a vintage large format film camera, using self-made lenses, Erik interviewed and photographed a wide variety of people including an immigration lawyer, US Border Patrol agents, artists, members of indigenous tribes, a rancher, a Zen Buddhist Minister and others. With social media wreaking havoc on our society, what happens when you step out from behind your keyboard and actually talk to people?
