Artist Tauba Auerbach uses craft traditions as research methods to deepen their understanding of mathematical and scientific theories. This documentary gives the viewers a glimpse into Auerbach’s artistic practice, from “ligature drawings” that use a “knit structure,” sequences of a single gesture woven together on the page, paintings and murals inspired by the floating dyes from a paper marbling tray, to glass sculptures and Auerglass Organ, the two-person, interdependent pump organ the artist designed with musician Cameron Mesirow, who performs as Glasser. Using this wide variety of materials and processes, the artist expands our comprehension of how the world is structured and connected.
