Three friends—Evan, Mark, and Nolan—head into the wilderness for what looks like a simple backpacking trip meant to “reconnect.” We gradually realize Evan orchestrated this whole thing because he’s worried Nolan isn’t okay. The first few miles of the hike are filled with casual banter and small emotional pokes, until Nolan finally explodes at Evan and disappears into the mountains. The rest of the film follows Evan and Mark as they search for him, retracing old trails, camping overnight, and piecing together fragments of their friendship through minimal conversations and small confessions. The film never expands beyond this snapshot: three men, a missing friend, the slow trudge through nature, and the quiet tension of what hasn’t been said between them. - Lucy Hanna, SF IndieFest
