Living at the dead-end of Lucky Dr. between a soggy marsh and Highway 101 in Larkspur, CA, Lee Greenberg established himself in an environment that would be ideal for the utilization of loud heavy machinery. He bought the property in 1991 to pursue his marble-cutting passion and business. Soon after, he invited other artists to live with him, and he built new housing structures to accommodate them. Greenberg’s artist colony sporting bright yellow slides emerging from the sides of his buildings has become a recognized icon in Marin County. Greenberg, however, himself has carved out a low-key elusive lifestyle that few people know anything about. In this short film, Greenberg shares his views of creating art, as well as his triumphs and conflicts.
