Please note: Every ticket to A Jew Walks Into a Bar and American Birthright automatically comes with a ticket to the Q&A with A Jew Walks Into a Bar director Jon Miller.
American Birthright explores intermarriage and cultural and religious self-identification through the eyes of Becky Tahel, an Israeli-American coming to grips with her younger sister's recent interfaith marriage. Becky goes on a quest to survey the country at large (across all cultures, faiths, and beliefs) about what it means to choose love over tradition, or what it means to do the very opposite. At every stage, Becky reflects on two basic questions that underlie her journey and the larger American story: First, what claim do our ancestors have on how we live our lives? And second, what do we give up -- or gain -- by following the heart rather than heritage?
