Canary in a Mine is the transformation story of a young, emotionally charged man, after the tragic loss of his younger brother. Q, the main character, is led to discover his own happiness in coping with his loss after being introduced to a warm hearted woman, Tumani. The two connect after Tumani saves Q from a near fight encounter, causing them to both be intrigued by one another. The story follows Q as he visits his brothers memorial in order to keep his essence alive. Helping Q cope with trauma, Tumani introduces Q to meditation to bring him true happiness.

A woman grapples with the sudden loss of her daughter and husband, who were killed in a mass shooting earlier that day. Ultimately, Unsaid is about the things we don’t tell one another to protect ourselves; the things we don’t say to protect each other; and the things we never get the chance to share, in this case due to tragic loss from sudden and terrible violence.

37 years old, Yona Rozenkier is an Israeli-French director, born and raised in kibbutz Yehiam, currently living in Tel Aviv. Graduated from the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television in Tel-Aviv. His first feature film The Dive (2018) won 4 awards in Jerusalem International Film Festival (including best feature award), won 2 awards in Locarno (the independent critics award and the junior jury award), and screened in other festivals, among them: Toronto, AFI Fest, Warsaw and Jeonju.
