Ernie was a happy, precocious three-year-old Jewish child growing up in The Hague, Netherlands in 1942. Little did he know that his world would soon be shattered, and his life's course thrown into chaos. Due to a fortunate tip from the wife of a Nazi collaborator, his parents knew their only hope was to send him into hiding – without them. Thus begins a miraculous tale of survival and sacrifice amidst the horror and tragedy of the Holocaust.

Ernst, now in his 80s, takes us on an incredible journey to revisit the places and heroic individuals who shaped his experiences as a hidden child. This is a story about fate and family. It's about not turning your back on those in need, even when their background might be different from our own. We feel the power of an underground community united to protect the innocent against all odds. What would you risk to save the life of a child?

Now, as antisemitism, fascism and bigotry again gain power in our world, this film is an important reminder that even just a few brave, humble individuals can change things for the better.
