The Comrades Marathon is the oldest and biggest ultra marathon in the world, taking place annually in June.  The race is run between the cities of Durban and Pietermaritzburg in South Africa. On average over 15000 runners take part each year.  In 2021, the race celebrated its 100th anniversary. To mark the occasion, it was important to document the race's history and traditions, while acknowledging the legends of the sport that have come and run this grand race.
