Animated short films and Canada are ubiquitous, and this program of Canadian-made projects highlights the continuing tradition of great Canadian animation.

A determined old man and his optimistic granddaughter are dropped off at the edge of a vast desert in order to begin the long, arduous multi-day trek toward the possibility of a better life.

Alone and on foot, they're tracked by vultures and at the mercy of the elements as they traverse the great distance to arrive at the boundary between their present and prospective future — a physical barrier so massive, so impenetrable, that word of its very existence has successfully served to dissuade all others from even attempting the journey.

But the old man has a simple, hopeful plan.

They set it in motion.

And it appears to work.

Until they're confronted by the realization everything they've been told, everything they've come to believe, about their destination may no longer be true.
