Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that rescues and shelters abandoned and abused dogs and cats with the goal of finding them new homes. APR is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida. APR has capacity to house up to 200 cats and 30 dogs. A staff of 18 along with dozens of dedicated volunteers care for the animals 365 days a year. APR has an on-site clinic with a licensed veterinarian and trained technicians to provide on-going medical care, essential vaccinations, spaying/neutering and other general surgeries for the shelter animals.
Abandoned Pet Rescue is celebrating its Silver Anniversary now. Founded March 21, 1996, APR is a beloved part of the community with a renowned reputation for saving lives, caring for their animal charges and finding them wonderful homes.
We're asking you to help make APR'S 25th anniversary count so more animals can be saved and cared for. Toward that end, Abandoned Pet Rescue has launched its $25,000 in 25 days matching fundraiser to help cover the annual costs of caring for the 300 dogs and cats.
Your ticket purchase today will be matched by our amazing matching donors. And, if you can dig just a bit deeper into your pocket, we can get that contribution matched, as well.
Zeytin, fiercely independent, embarks on adventures through the city at night; Nazar, nurturing and protective, easily befriends the humans around her; while Kartal, a shy puppy living on the outskirts of a construction site, finds companions in the security guards who care for her. The disparate lives of Zeytin, Nazar and Kartal intersect when they each form intimate bonds with a group of young Syrians who share the streets with them. Whether they lead us into bustling streets or decrepit ruins, the gaze of these strays acts as a window into the overlooked corners of society: women in loveless marriages, protesters without arms, refugees without sanctuary. STRAY is a critical observation of human civilization through the unfamiliar gaze of dogs and a sensory voyage into new ways of seeing.
