2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII.&nbsp;This film tells the stories of Chinese American soldiers who fought and lived to tell of their exploits in the China-Burma-India campaigns; they helped change the course of history.

Tiger Spirit

On August 6, 1945, the atomic bomb exploded over Hiroshima. Little known is the fact that among the estimated 140,000 casualties of that day were 12 American prisoners of war held at the Hiroshima Military Police Headquarters since July 28, when they had been shot down during a bombing raid. For decades, many of the families of these 12 Americans were never informed as to the fates of their loved ones. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Mr. Shigeaki Mori, himself a hibakusha (A-bomb survivor), the names of these 12 are now included in the Hiroshima Peace Museum, and the relatives have learned the truth. Paper Lanterns documents the story of Mr. Mori and his dream of reaching out to the relatives of these lost airmen. Director Biography - Barry Frechette<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/843a5cd6ab3f902217f5b62bccf9b9ad.jpg" width="180">He is an ad guy and grew up in production. TV ads, videos, websites.&nbsp;All that stuff.&nbsp;But what he really love is helping people make things.&nbsp;When he came across this story, he knew that this was something that really needed to be told.&nbsp;That is why he have jumped in with both feet.&nbsp;He lives north of Boston, in Billerica, Massachusetts. The real joy of his life is his family.&nbsp;&nbsp;

A wartime promise takes Japanese-American soldier Jimmy Ibata on a life-changing journey from the battlefields of Europe to San Francisco to complete his final mission of WWII. He is an award-winning journalist who worked at newspapers and wire services in Asia and the United States for more than 20 years. His last stop was at his hometown newspaper - The Chronicle. Today, he is a freelance writer and independent filmmaker who still calls The City his home. He has written, produced and directed award-winning films and web series such as “The Virtues of Corned Beef Hash,” “Infinity &amp; Chashu Ramen” and “Gold Mountain.”

Kikan - The Homecoming

On a beautiful hillside in pre-World War 2 Los Angeles, Sachi, a young Japanese girl, plants an oak seed with her father. There, he begins teaching her lessons about life, family, and tradition. On December 7th 1941, the world as she knows it is shattered forever; she and her mother are wrongfully interned and her father enlists in the military never to return. Ten years later, and irrevocably altered, Sachi returns to find she and her mother outcasts, but the oak tree she planted with her father has not only survived, somehow, and most mysteriously, it has thrived. Director Biography: Masanori Baba <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/e57932760b0dfd59dffd91de90bd245d.png" width="141" style="max-width: 100%;"> Born and raised in Nagoya, Japan, Masa graduated from Sophia University. He moved to Los Angeles right after graduation to pursue his dream of film making. Masa enrolled in the University of California, Los Angeles Extension Program, where he completed courses in film production, subsequently writing, producing and directing his first short film, Chiyo. Chiyo had the honor to be selected as a semi-finalist for the 79th Academy Awards. Masa previously worked for about six years as a Producer’s Assistant at an independent film production/distribution company in Hollywood. He was also previously an Associate Producer for a joint American/Japanese television pilot show funded by the Japanese government. In 2010, Masa created his own production company. Several feature film projects are currently under development, including an adaptation for a well-known Japanese non-fiction novel based on a true story, as well as Chiyo’s feature film. Masa has also worked on a large, high budget movie script for a Hollywood major studio as a translator. As director/producer, Masa tries to put his heart and soul into every project.
