Makoto, a Japanese American single mother struggles to reconcile with her estranged father, Musashi, following his recent release from prison. But Musashi's former life as an enforcer for the Yakuza casts a long shadow over both their lives and history has a way of repeating itself.
Lee Shorten- Director
Lee Shorten is half Korean / half Japanese actor/writer/director. An adoptee, Lee grew
up in rural Australia. A former musician, Lee graduated Law School in 2009 and
practiced law for several years before moving to Canada in 2014 to pursue a career in
the arts.
Lee is best known for playing Sergeant Yoshida on ‘THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE’
and Walt Yoshida on ‘THE TERROR: INFAMY’. Lee was nominated for a Jessie Award
for Best Supporting Actor for his work as Jung in Pacific Theatre’s production of ‘KIM’S
CONVENIENCE’.
Lee’s directorial debut J’ADOUBE (writer/director) won BEST ULTRA SHORT at
Vancouver Asian Film Festival 2018, and his follow-up short film PARABOLA (writer/
director), received an A+ review in the GEORGIA STRAIGHT and was one of the
CRAZY 8’s Top 6 films in 2019. Most recently, Lee was nominated for Best Director at
the Blood N Guts 48 Hr Film Fest 2019, for his horror satire, THE CHADDENING
(writer/director). And lastly, THE DAY WE MET (writer/actor) received a $10k Grant from
Telus/Storyhive. He is currently out to market with four projects: NOCTURNE (Feature),
PARABOLA (Feature), WOLVES (Series) and JADED (Series).
