In early cinema (and often, in reality), a woman is used primarily as a driver for a man's plot, and if she's lucky to get her own story, men are her sole and only plotline. While men build businesses, travel the world, or kill bad guys, women cling to them for significance. She does not exist without a man; she cannot exist without a man. She instead is an extension of a man.
