It’s Halloween, and sixteen-year-old Winter has just had her heart broken. As she nurses the newfound pain, her widowed father Ken convinces her to join him on one last trick-or-treat outing, in memory of her mother who adored all things scary. They happen upon a house that they presume is an immersive Halloween experience, only to discover a suburbanite witch is using their combined energy to channel the spirit of her own cheating ex-partner and punish him for his infidelity. Witnessing the hex brings father and daughter closer and, in the aftermath, helps young Winter to see her own self-worth and Ken to realize that sharing spooky things together might be what this family needs in its life.
