In 2020, his play ‘butterfly’, telling untold queer stories from across history, played at the VAULT festival (2020) to rave reviews, with The Guardian hailing it as a ‘brilliant show full of heart’. In film, he won the BFI’s ‘most promising newcomer’ award aged 16. He is currently assistant to multiple BAFTA winning director Euros Lyn (Sherlock, Black Mirror, Happy Valley.) <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/4beaaa5ec54fda4e069bef6f25298e5e.jpg" width="214" style="display: inline; float: left; margin: 0px 1em 1em 0px;">Adam Ali is a British Libyan actor and director striving to celebrate queer Muslim visibility. He recently received a Film Independent Spirit Award nomination for his performance as 'Zain' in the season finale of Apple TV's Little America. Directed by NBC's Queer As Folk reboot director Stephen Dunn, Adam starred alongside Haaz Sleiman as they told the story of a gay Syrian refugee who dreams of being openly gay. Recently, Adam played the lead in Europa, a new Italian American feature directed by Haider Rashid. Europa has received the prestigious Proxima Award at the Milano Film Network, and 1st prize at Cairo Film Connection.

Mohammad is a crane operator working in Beirut. One morning he volunteers to take on one of the tallest and notoriously most dangerous cranes in Lebanon. Up above, he is able to live out his secret passion and find freedom. ‎About the filmmaker <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/2e38369c5adc79d70c09523773c0539b.jpg" width="214" style="display: inline; float: left; margin: 0px 1em 1em 0px;">Dania Bdeir is an award-winning Lebanese-Canadian filmmaker. Bdeir, currently a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective, has a BA in Graphic Design from the American University of Beirut and an MFA in directing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she received a full scholarship in her third year. In White, her graduate thesis film, received the Spike Lee Production Fund and had its world premiere at Clermont-Ferrand before screening at BFI London, Uppsala, and more than 30 other festivals worldwide. Bdeir was a 2019 Berlinale Talent and participated in its Short Film Station with Warsha, which had its world premiere at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and won the Jury Prize for the Best International Fiction Short. The short has won over 20 awards and has been selected at over 60 festivals in the first six months since its premiere, including SXSW, Rotterdam, Clermont-Ferrand, among many others. Bdeir is currently developing her first feature film Pigeon Wars, which was selected for the 2019 Torino Film Lab x DFI Hezaya Screenwriting lab as well as 2021 Cine Qua Non Storylines and the 2022 Groupe Ouest Screenwriting lab in France.&nbsp;

A glance leads to a smile, a smile to a rendezvous: every love story begins the same way. These narratives are stored in songs and poems and live on beyond their inevitable endings, as Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18 suggests. In Mohammad Shawky Hassan’s metafictional essay, a female narrator who wishes to tell the story of a love between two men encounters a polyamorous chorus of lovers, and this oft-told tale is multiplied. In Club Scheherazade, there is no protagonist and every song has various versions. ‎About the filmmaker <img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/eventive-static/f0f376a9228691f5b21055c1b396f9b2.jpg" width="214" style="display: inline; float: left; margin: 0px 1em 1em 0px;"> Mohammad Shawky Hassan is an Egyptian filmmaker and video artist living and working in Berlin since January 2019. His last film And on a Different Note, which screened at TCAFF 2016, premiered at the Berlinale - Forum Expanded, and was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York as part of its permanent collection. Shall I Compare You to a Summer's Day?, which premiered at the 2022 Berlinale - Forum, is Hassan's debut feature.
