Charles Heller is the grandson of Leopold Hilsner's guardian Siegfried Heller. A Toronto-based composer and former assistant cantor at the Kiever Shul, he has a personal interest in seeing this verdict cleared from the record. Hillel Kieval is the author of Blood Inscriptions: Science, Modernity, and Ritual Murder at Europe's Fin de Siècle. He is a historian of Jewish culture who holds the Gloria M. Goldstein Professorship of Jewish History and Thought at Washington University in St. Louis. He has written multiple books about the history of the Jews in Bohemia and Moravia.
