It’s an average Friday night for Zaid (18) and his Arab immigrant family in California as Zaid and his bitter father both prepare for their night shifts. In the daytime, Zaid takes care of Sido (grandfather) who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. Zaid heads out to work and Sido wakes up from his sleep, and he takes to the streets. He finds himself entering a nightclub where his grandson is on stage in belly-dancing drag. He watches his grandson perform in awe. Zaid notices and takes him home to an irritable dad. Sido slips some comments about Zaid in makeup and Zaid’s dad blows up. Sido recognizes his mistake and reveals to Zaid that his grandmother used to be a belly dancer.
