20 January, 1942, Wannsee. Fifteen high-ranking Nazi officials gather in an imposing villa, located in an elegant and peaceful Berlin suburb. On the agenda: discussing the plan to annihilate millions of European Jews, also known as the Final Solution. But alongside this monumental task, there are also other, no less important, things that preoccupy the conference attendees that day: internal politics, workplace gossip, personal rivalries and coffee break treats. Based on the meeting minutes, this German drama offers a chilling and disturbing illustration of what Hannah Arendt described years later as ‘the banality of evil’.
