Struggling for years with SSA (same-sex attractions), 54-year-old Lev and 23-year-old Ben turn to gay conversion therapy – a common method of treatment of homosexuality in the ultra-Orthodox community to which both belong – in the hope of overcoming their forbidden desire. As they soon find out, however, reality is more fraught and emotionally taxing than expected. In this thought-provoking documentary, director Zvi Landsman gives us a rare glimpse into this highly controversial (and scientifically dubious) practice and the impact it has on those who subscribe to it.
