Session 5 (UNAFF & Kids Program - free admission)
- THE EXPERT (Spain, 22 min)
- CITIZENKID: EARTH COMES FIRST (Canada/US, 23 min)
Description:
In CitizenKid, four Canadian youth activists, Hannah Alper, Sophia Mathur, Charlene Rocha, and Cooper Price, set out to show how people can change the world no matter their age. They journey to Toronto, Ottawa, Washington, and beyond to engage with government leaders, fellow climate activists, and to learn from an Indigenous Elder. Through images, words, performance, and social media, these activists share their experiences with other young people, extending the conversation beyond the screen to spark real action in response to the global climate crisis. Part informational, part inspirational, and part call-to-action, CitizenKid is a documentary that will inspire young people around the world to put Earth first.
Biography:
Stefan Scaini began his career in the 4th grade when he submitted a docudrama filmed with his dad’s Super 8 camera. At seventeen he made his first dramatic short, a romantic comedy about a lonely teenage ghost. This earned him acceptance to the Tahoe Film Academy and the distinction of being mentored by some of Hollywood’s finest directors, among them, Sydney Pollack, Robert Wise, Ronald Neame and Richard Fleisher. He went on to direct movies and series television for CBS, Warner, Lifetime, Disney, Fox, Nickelodeon, BBC, and CBC, to name a few. Scaini takes pride in telling prospective productions looking to hire him to ask any actor he’s worked with for a reference.
Stephen Paniccia has been working in the film and television industry since his graduation from the University of Windsor’s Honours Bachelor of Commerce Program and the Vancouver Film School. Stephen received his start in the industry after being granted a spot in the CFTPA National Mentorship Program with Forefront Entertainment working as their Assistant to the Executive in Charge of Production. Since then, Stephen has worked with numerous independent film and television production companies including White Pine Pictures, 9 Story Entertainment, and The Nightingale Company in a variety of roles including Vice President of Business Affairs, Head of Production, and Executive in Charge of Production.
